TBILISI(BPI)- In 2019, Georgia exported 94 million bottles (0.75 l) of wine to 53 countries ( up 9%) compared with 2018 that is a record high in the history of independent Georgia. The value of exported wine totaled $ 240 million that is 17% more than in the same period of 2018.
Exports increased to the strategic markets: Poland – 17% (4 114 972 bottles), China – 2% (7 089 259 bottles), US – 48% (678 148 bottles) and UK – 60% (168 307 bottles).
Growth is also observed in the following countries: Lithuania – 45% (708 408 bottles), Germany – 40% (671 453 bottles), Belarus – 74% (2 787 065 bottles), Israel – 80% (324 700 bottles), Estonia – 20% (693 248 bottles). ), Russia – 9% (58 384 540 bottles), Moldova – 38% (625 724 bottles), Netherlands – 17% (96 464 bottles), Czech Republic – 34% (83 136 bottles), Sweden – 636% (92 214 bottles), Bulgaria – 30 % (34 734 bottles), Mongolia – 40% (297 576 bottles), etc.
Wine was exported by 341 companies in 2019.
Apart from that, 31.6 million bottles (0.5 l) of brandy were exported to 25 countries worldwide that is 58% more than in the same period of 2018. The brand’s export earnings totaled $ 68 million (67% growth). 625 thousand bottles (0.5 l) of chacha were exported to 28 countries ( a 48% growth). Chacha’s export revenue reached $ 1.7 million (a 38% growth).
The total revenue received from the exports of wine, brandy, chacha, draft brandy totaled US $ 345 million that is 15% more compared with the same period of last year.
