Georgia’s exports to CIS countries up 26.6 pc, to EU – by 20.6 pc

TBILISI(BPI)- According to Sakstat, in January-July 2019, goods worth  $ 1 105.8 million were exported from Georgia to the CIS countries which is 26.6 percent more than in the previous year and makes 52.6 percent of the country’s total exports.

In seven months, exports to the EU countries amounted to 503.5 million euros which is 20.6 percent more than in the same period of the previous year and 24.0 percent of the country’s total exports.

In January-July, the largest volume of  exports was  carried out  to Russia and totaled  $ 303 million that  is 26% more than in the same period of the previous year. The top five export destinations are Azerbaijan, Armenia, Bulgaria and Ukraine.

Imports from the European Union amounted to $ 1 280.2 million (12.6 percent less) and made up 25.8 percent of total imports.

The largest imports  were carried out  from Turkey, China, Russia, Azerbaijan and Germany.
