TBILISI(BPI)-The 18th World Federation of Tourist Guides Association (WFTGA) Convention is being held in Tbilisi. The 5-day event, which was organised by the Georgian Association of Guides and supported by the Georgian National Tourism Administration, saw 300 tourist guides from up to 70 countries and tourism business representatives visit Georgia.
The staging of the WFTGA Convention is highly significant for promoting the tourism sector in Georgia. It aims to raise the standards of tourism and promote the guide profession in the country. Over a period of two weeks, participants will visit various regions of Georgia and familiarise themselves with Georgian culture and traditions.
According to the Georgian Association of Guides President, Kety Meladze, “Georgia will reap the benefits of hosting the convention, as the 300 delegates will promote our country and our culture in the future.”
The World Federation of Tourist Guides Association Convention takes place on a bi-annual basis.
