TBILISI(BPI)- Finance Minister Ivane Machavariani links the lari’s sharp plunge to the current political tensions in the country.
Machavariani said at a briefing in the government administration that the radical political processes in the country have affected the lari’s exchange rate.
“At this stage, we don’t see objective conditions for the lari’s fluctuations. This is unequivocally associated with the expectations connected to the radicalism and political tensions in the country. At the same time, these tensions contribute to the spread of the virus. We don’t mean restrictions on freedom of expression, but it is not difficult to use face masks, to keep social distancing and to refrain from making unconstitutional calls,” the Finance Minister says.
