TBILISI(BPI)- According to the Minister of Finance of Georgia Lasha Khutsishvili, the country has positive expectations for the lari’s exchange rate.
Khutsishvili said at a briefing at the government administration that the exchange rate will stabilize in the short term.
The Minister spoke about the factors affecting the exchange rate noting that the situation in the region as well as the pandemic has a negative impact on the national currency.
“The National Bank is working in coordination with the Government to avoid the lari’s sharp fluctuations. Stability is observed in the short term, however, the country is in a rather difficult situation due to the pandemic, that’s why it’s vital to vaccinate as many people as possible and to restore tourism that will be restored by about 25-30% this year. Apart from that, the region is also facing challenges. The situation is tense in the neighborhood that will definitely affect Georgia ,” Khutsishvili said, adding that the country should have quite positive expectations.
