Gov’t to boost small and medium-sized hotel business

TBILISI(BPI)- The construction of small and medium-sized hotels should not be stopped due to recent events, Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze says.

The MP says that  the government has developed a specific mechanism to boost small and medium-sized hotel business. The state will  partially cover interest on loans taken by owners of small and medium-sized hotels before the launch  of Russian sanctions.

“We actively work with the tourism sector, especially with small and medium-sized hotels. After consultations  with the sector,  special measures were developed. To assist  those  who work in small and medium tourist business and are most affected by the ban is the most important for us, ” the head of government explains.

According to Mamuka Bakhtadze, the government will continue to support small and medium-sized businesses in the tourism industry in the future as well.

“We will launch  very important tools and  will co-finance the payment of interest on loans taken for infrastructure development. Many businessmen planned  to build hotels as tourism was the most rapidly developing sector of the country’s economy. We must do everything in order they  not to revise their plans and carry out  the planned projects, ” the Prime Minister explains.

In  Bakhtadze’s words, in the current situation the government will support  both the hotel business and developers in order they to  continue their normal activities.
