Georgia leads in the SME Policy Index

TBILISI(BPI)-Georgia leads in the index of small and medium-sized enterprises  (SME )policy index of Eastern Partnership countries based on the research carried out by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).

According to the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, Georgia tops  the rating. Georgia received the best evaluation in 9 indicators out of 12. The country’s has improved its positions in 11 indicators compared with 2018.

The report was presented at the working meeting of OECD in Paris. The governmental delegations of Eastern Partnership countries attended the meeting. Ekaterine Mikabadze, Deputy Minister of Economy and Director of Produce in Georgia Agency Mikheil Khidureli represented the Georgian delegation.

The Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development is an intergovernmental economic organization with 36 member countries, founded in 1961 to stimulate economic progress and world trade.

The SME Policy Index identifies strengths and weaknesses in policy design and implementation, allows for comparison across countries and measures convergence towards good practices and relevant policy standards. It supports governments in setting targets for SME policy development and helps to identify strategic priorities for improving business environment. It engages governments in policy dialogue and exchange of good practices within the region and with OECD members.
