Volume of loans issued by commercial banks up 1.56% in March

TBILISI(BPI)- The volume of loans issued by commercial banks (excluding interbank loans) in March 2021 increased by 600.66 million GEL or by 1.56% compared to the previous month (exchange rate effect excluded, increased by 0.94%) and constituted 39.03 billion GEL by April 1, 2021. The volume of loans in national currency increased by 312.82 million GEL (1.84%) and the volume of loans in foreign currency increased by 287.83 million GEL or by 1.35% in the same period (exchange rate effect excluded, increased by 0.22%).

 By the end of March 2021, the total volume of national currency denominated loans to resident legal entities issued by commercial banks amounted to 5.50 billion GEL (2.34% more compared to the previous month), and foreign currency denominated loans constituted 13.47 billion GEL (1.21% more; exchange rate effect excluded volume of lending in foreign currency increased by 0.08%).

 During March 2021, the volume of lending to resident household sector increased by 1.59% or 302.05 million GEL, and constituted 19.25 billion GEL by April 1, 2021.

Larization ratio for total loans constituted 44.45 percent by April 1, 2021 and increased by 0.12 percentage point (exchange rate effect excluded, increased by 0.40 percentage point), compared to March 1, 2021.
